Church in Wyandotte County: The Cost for the Lost Pt. 2

< Back to Blog

This church in Wyandotte County has been here for over 20 years! Since we have been here we have had the privilege of seeing many lives impacted for the better through the power of Jesus.

We try to make everyone, that walks through our doors, feel special and welcome. However, as a 23 year old church, sometimes we can drift from what we know is good and become distracted.

We can be so impressed with super stars and sports heroes.  I dare say if they came into our churches we would give more honor to them than to some soul that wandered in from the streets.

Do you remember the story of the wildman that wandered among the tombs? Jesus left His ministry and took to the water to set this man free.  He cast out the demons that had this man bound and restored him to his right mind.  Do you think the town’s people celebrated that one of their own was free?  Oh no!  They urged Jesus to leave because those demons went in to a herd of pigs, their livelihood, and the pigs drowned themselves in the sea.  They were more concerned about their money than a soul.

When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. 1 Cor 9:22

This ought to be the heart of everyone young and old.  Are you doing everything in your power to see a soul turned to Christ?  Are your time, talents, and yes, your money invested to the kingdom business of winning the lost?

Perhaps you’re just not that interested in soul winning but you know you ought to be.  He said whatever we ask according to the will of God we will receive it.  If you want a heart on fire to see broken people come to Christ pray this prayer.

Father I know it is right and good to desire to see people get saved.  You said He who wins souls is wise.  Give me a soul winner’s heart Lord.  Let everything I do bring help bring the poor, the hurting, the broken, the blind, and the lame to the foot of the cross.  Jesus just like you saw value in me please help me see the value of others.  Not because they walk in some sort of earthly fame but because they are made in your image.  Grant me are heart that loves people into your kingdom.  In the name of Jesus, Amen.
